FEMME! Legacy Awards Gala honors powerful women.

INGEÑUITY announced the Femme! Power Confab & Retreat presented by AARP, Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo honoring powerful women at the Legacy Awards Gala taken place at the Langham Huntington in Pasadena, California on March 30, 2023.

The event started off with a powerful collaboration with guests that gathered with many women leaders in the industry. Before the dinner and performance began, several guests and honorees walked the red carpet. Among those were Sheila E. (Queen of Percussion/Honoree), Dolores Huerta (Civil Rights Activist/Honoree), MC Lyte (Rapper/Honoree), Diana Flores (Mexican Football Player/Honoree), Mayan Lopez (Actress), Brenda Mejia (TV/Radio Personality), Eva Patterson (CEO of Raw Nation), Gabrielle Walsh (Actress), Michael Davis (LA Chargers – Cornerback), Ashley Tamer (Music Artist), Sarah Ruiz Chavez (Femme Founder), CeCe Valencia (Public Figure/93.5 KDay) and many others.

After the red carpet, guests entered the lounge to enjoy a delicious meal while Mario Lopez (Host) talked about the Femme Legacy Awards journey and why he decided to be part of the event.

Each presenter gave a history about the honoree.

Mayan Lopez presented the Fighter Award to Dolores Huerta

Ashley Tamer presented the Muse Lifetime Achievement Award to Sheila E.

CeCe Valencia presented the Living Legends Award to MC Lyte.

Michael Davis presented the Groundbreaker Award to Diana Flores

Dolores Huerta a Civil Rights Activist is an American labor leader who with the late Cesar Chavez who are co-founders of the National Farmworkers Association which later merged with the Agricultural Workers Organizing Committee to become the United Farm Workers.

Sheila E. an American percussionist and singer began her career in the mid-1970s as a percussionist for The George Duke Band. Later, when separating for the George Duke Band, she began her solo career and released her debut album in 1984 that included some of her biggest hits such as “The Glamorous Life and “A Love Bizarre”. She is known as the Queen of Percussion.

MC Lyte is an American Rapper, DJ, and Actress. She is one of the pioneers of female rap. She gained fame in the late 1980s and becoming the first solo female rapper to release a full album. She had released a total of eight solo studio albums and an EP. Some of her popular hits were “Cha Cha Cha’, “Paper Thin”, 10% Dis” and “Ruffneck”. She has also influenced many female rap-artist.

Diana Flores is a Mexico National Woman’s Flag footballer since the age of 16. She was the fourth-youngest quarterback at the 2022 World Games. February 2023, she was featured in a Superbowl commercial which gain a wide audience.

After the award ceremony, Sheila E., and her band stunned the audience with a great performance which had everyone dancing and singing. The energy in the room was loud with laughter.
